Much appreciated. This ism not a critique, but I thought I would mention the following. When I read the poem, what it evoked in me was not a way forward, but I would call "! way living presently." How many times have I looked back over my life and wondered why I wished to leave those presents behind. Great poem.
I'm glad it evoked this in you, Chuck, because I really believe that the way forward is to live in the present fully. I'm grateful to you for reading, friend!
Chris, very fine poem! Is it new or was it in one of your collections? I'm going to bookmark that one. I'm reading Johnson's collection of Emily Dickinson's best ("Final Harvest"). The book contains about 500 out of the 1500 or so poems she wrote in her life. It's in chronological order, and I'm moving through 1861 to 1862 now. Both her productivity and quality increase markedly right there; the poems are simply stunning, and her own unshakable faith keeps shining through. Uncle Rick.

Thank you! It's a new one, probably going to be included in my next collection.
That sounds like a wonderful collection, I'll have to pick it up! Her stuff is amazing.
