Well, for not being sure what to write about, I think I found at least 5 things I’ll be thinking about from what you came up with. Thank you.

Haha, I guess so. That whole foraging writer thing, I guess. What a mercy I found a few morsels this time around!

For real, though - the writing muscles feel rusty after the break. Gotta get them back in shape. :)

Fascinating juxtaposition of those 2 films! I'm just starting my second year of retirement and am blessed by the opportunities I have every day to "show up" and bless others--yes, like Paul, "to live is Christ, and to die is gain" but while I have breath, grateful for each day God gives me! I matter in a bunch of people's lives and that is a joy!

I wholeheartedly agree, Chuck, and thanks for reading!

My great uncle, before he died at 103, was starting each day by saying, "Well, I woke up again. That means that God has something for me to do today." And then he would go out and do it. I want to be saying that when I near the end of my life.

We miss so many opportunities that are right in front of us when we spend all of our attention on our future goals. Here's to the day God has given us!

One of the greatest delights is the bond I have with our grandchildren, especially the youngest, 2 -1/2-year-old Isaiah. He and I share a birthday--and we're both left-handed! This last year I have been spending time with him on Friday mornings while his mother home schools the older children. He literally lights up and laughs when I come into the room...such a blessing!

That documentary was creepy as hell and so, so, so sad. When at the end he was celebrating the "community" he'd built, as he stood in the middle above the crowd of walkers, I just wanted to cry for him.

I can't imagine the emptiness. It was devastating to watch.
